Planning the Perfect Girlfriend Getaway to the Finger Lakes

Planning the Perfect Girlfriend Getaway to the Finger Lakes

Hey, lovely ladies!

Fall is just around the corner, but before we fully embrace the season. I’m so excited to go on a wine tasting jaunt with my high school girlfriends and enjoy some of the best that late summer and early fall have to offer. We're heading to the Finger Lakes for a mix of wine tasting, hiking, biking, and a boat trip, so let's dive into how we can prepare for this unforgettable getaway without overpacking.

The Finger Lakes during this transitional time is known for warm days and cooler evenings, so layers are key! Here's a breakdown of the essentials:

Daytime Adventures: Hiking & Biking
- Light, Breathable Tops: Think moisture-wicking tanks or short-sleeve tees for outdoor activities.
- Convertible Pants or Leggings: These are perfect for hiking and biking—stretchy, comfortable, and easy to dress up if needed... and of course the Remi Pant was my first pick!
- Layer Up with a Flannel or Light Jacket: Bring a lightweight flannel or packable windbreaker. You can easily tie it around your waist while it's warm but pull it on when the wind picks up.
- Shoes: A cute pair of stylish yet sturdy sneakers or low-profile hiking shoes. These will keep your feet comfortable during the day and look great with jeans or casual wear later.

Wine Tasting & Evening Outfits
- Chic but Comfortable Dresses or Jumpsuits: Midi dresses or a jumpsuit in flowy fabrics give off a relaxed, stylish vibe that transitions well from day to evening. I grabbed Rhelm's Linen Dress as an easy and comfortable dress to wear all day.
- Layers Are Everything: Pair your dress or jumpsuit with a denim jacket or a cozy oversized sweater as the temps drop.
- Footwear: Opt for ankle boots or fashionable sneakers that work with both daytime strolls and evening wine tastings. Ankle boots will elevate your look while keeping your feet warm and dry as the evening gets chilly.

The Breakdown... What to Pack:
To stay light but stylish, think capsule wardrobe. Here’s what you need:

- Tops (3-4): Mix of tanks, tees, and maybe one dressy blouse.
- Bottoms (2-3): Leggings or hiking pants, one pair of jeans or casual pants, and a comfortable skirt or shorts for warmer days.
- Dresses or Jumpsuits (1-2): For easy, chic looks that are comfortable yet elevated.
- Outerwear: A packable puffer jacket for chilly evenings and a windbreaker or rain jacket in case of showers.
- Accessories: A wide-brimmed hat...like the Sun Straw Hat, sunglasses, and a scarf to easily switch up your look.
- Shoes (2-3 pairs): Stylish sneakers for day adventures, ankle boots for evening, and a pair of sandals or boat shoes for the boat trip.

For the Boat Trip:
Don’t forget the water elements! We’ll be enjoying some time on the water, so pack:
- Swimsuit: Something cute but practical for any impromptu dips.
- Cover-Up: A chic kaftan or beachy dress that can double as a casual outfit once off the boat.
- Warm Layer: A light sweater or a soft hoodie to throw on in case you get wet or the wind picks up.
- Boat-Friendly Shoes: Comfortable sandals or slip-ons that are easy to take off if you want to dip your toes in the water.

Packing Tips:
- Use Packing Cubes:These will keep your clothing organized and compact, making it easier to stay light but stylish.
- Plan Outfits Ahead: Choose versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched. Think layers and textures for an effortlessly chic vibe.
- Leave Room for Wine! Whether you're checking a bag or bringing a carry-on, make sure you have space to bring home a couple of bottles of your favorite wine from the tasting tours.

Final Thoughts:
The Finger Lakes will be a magical blend of outdoor adventure, cozy evenings, and indulgent wine experiences. Pack smart, layer up, and get ready for the perfect balance of activity and relaxation. This trip is all about fun and memories, so don’t stress about overpacking—just make sure you're ready for anything!

Cheers to a fun-filled girlfriend getaway!

Love,
Carolyn
